The Story
The Carolina Reaper is currently listed as the hottest chilli in the world by the Guinness World Records. It was awarding this title in 2017, replacing the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. It was created by crossing a Pakistani Naga with a Red Habanero type from St Vincents Island in the Caribbean. It has wrinkled, bumpy skin, although some can also have a smoother surface. It’s distinguishing feature is it’s scorpion-like tail.
Flavour: Fruity sweet flavour, then immediately followed by scorching heat. It is a popular choice in hot sauces as it adds both the heat and flavour. It can be added into any dish to give some extra heat. Be sure to wear gloves when handling this chilli as it is very oily and is extremely hot.
Heat Level (SHU): Averaging 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units, with individual pods rating over 2.2 million Scoville Heat Units (Super Hot!!!)
Quantity: 20 or 500 seeds
