The Story
The much loved Habaneros have a very distinct fruity flavour when compared to many of the other chillies. Different stages of ripeness will provide you with different flavours. When picked green, it will have less heat and a more earthy flavour, while the more mature pods will have a sweeter, fruit flavour.
Flavour: Very crisp, rich flavour. Has a sweet freshness to it with orange undertones. It’s bright colour and intense heat makes it a great choice for a hot sauce, and is commonly used in Caribbean and South American BBQ marinades.
Heat Level (SHU): 200,000 to 350,000 SHU (Very Hot)
Plant: The Habanero Plant can grow to around 1m tall and is a very bushy plant when fully grown. It yields a bountiful harvest of fresh fruit. Each fresh chilli is around 5cm long to 4cm wide and turns a vibrant yellow when fully matured.
